Sunday @ the Heights

Calling all seventh through 12th grade youth to come and hang out at Stuart Park on the second and fourth Sundays, Sept. 12 & 26, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Come and play volleyball, bocce ball, ultimate Frisbee and other outdoor activities at Stuart Park with the children who live in the Heights. Parents drop and pick up children at Stuart Park. For more information, contact Sandi Bledsoe or Dawn Schissler, 267-7922.

Children’s Ministry Needs:

Do you have one hour to help with light set-up of the Sunday school classrooms on Friday mornings between 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The job involves delivering the weekend materials to the classrooms and double checking that the classroom is read for the weekend.
The First Steps Nursery needs someone to spend one hour a week in the nursery tidying, straightening, and organizing. This would be when the children are not in the nursery and at a time that is convenient for you and Children’s Ministry.

KAIROS Cookies
The KAIROS Team who goes into the Tomoka Prison takes 1000 dozen cookies each time they go into the prison. They are in need of stored bought packaged cookies. They have about 400 dozen now. Please bring cookies to the church office by Wednesday, September 8, and mark them for KAIROS.

Community Connections Outreach Center Help
Do you have a heart to help others? Can you spare 2 - 4 hours per week to help in the Community Connections Outreach Center? If so, there will be a workshop on Saturday, September 11, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for anyone who would like to serve. The cost is $25 as a donation, but no one will be denied. Swing Low Dance and Dessert

IRCUMC’s Swing Low 2nd Annual Dance and Dessert will be Friday, Sept. 17, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in WFH featuring Big Band Music. Admission is free, but you must have a ticket. The Joseph Fund

Indian River City United Methodist Church will join together with other churches in North Brevard in launching the Joseph Fund. This fund, based on the Old Testament story of Joseph storing up grain to stand against future years of famine, will be used to help families endure the economic shifts we anticipate in our community as a result of the ending of the Shuttle program.

The fund will work like this. We are asking each family in our churches to fast for one meal per week, or to eat a simple meal at home rather than going out to a restaurant. The money that would have been spent on the meal or the restaurant is then placed in a canister. At the end of each month, people turn in whatever they have saved to their home church.

That money will be saved until the day when we will use it to help families in crisis because of the economic situation. North Brevard Charities will disperse the funds for us in a fair and wise manner.
As we look at the economic future of the Titusville area, people stand to lose a lot. Won’t you give a little so that others can have enough?
